The six-storey building collapsed heavy rains in Nairobi. County officials have said the construction of building was not approved by City Hall because the location is too close to a river.

The six-storey building had 198 rental rooms.

Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke has ordered people residing in adjacent buildings to evacuate immediately to avoid a similar disaster.
