20 students charged over arson attacks in city schools

Thirteen Lang’ata Boys High School students have been charged with burning a dormitory and two classrooms worth Sh5.4 million.

The students denied the charge on Tuesday and were freed on a Sh100,000 cash bail each.

The dormitory was valued at Sh5 million and the two classrooms were worth Sh400,000.

The students had been in remand since July 26. Police had sought to keep them in detention while they investigated the fires.

Meanwhile, seven students from Sunshine Secondary School in Nairobi were charged with attempting to burn a building at the school on July 24.

A ruling on their bond application is expected Tuesday afternoon.
