21 Kenyans to battle for top TikTok content creator Awards 


You love them and adore their TikTok content. Well, the battle is on. Just who will win?

Kenyan content creators stand a better chance of shining at the upcoming TikTok Sub-Saharan Top Content Creator 2022 Awards, after bagging the highest numbers of nominees in the region.

Of the 30 selected to battle for the awards from East Africa, Kenya landed 21 nominees.

Categorized into three regions namely Southern Africa, West Africa, and East Africa, a total of 90 content creators, 30 from each region were nominated for the awards.

For the East African region, the inaugural red carpet awards ceremony has been set to go down on  January 14, 2023, at the five-star Movenpick hotel in Nairobi.

Notable contenders from Kenya include:

  • Makeup artiste beauty by Nita
  • Meme Films Ke whose notable for his witty meme animations
  • Music producer and singer Ndovu Kuu whose content revolve around witty music
  • ventriloquist Nelson Wachira who creates funny content, dancer Joisij Smile
  • Former Kenyan rugby player Dennis Ombachi is now a self-taught chef who goes by the name The Roaming Chef
  • Fitness instructor Coach Patricko
  • Actress Wabosha Maxine
  • Lifestyle content creator Milly Wajesus and her husband Kabi Wa Jesus together make up the Wajesus family
  • Comedian Jacky Vike alias Awinja
  • Beauty content creator Chaosun among others.

TikTok says the awards aim at recognizing content creators across Sub-Saharan Africa for the immense talent and creativity they brought to the platform this year.

Public voting began on December 16, 2022, and closed on December 23, 2022, for all three regions.
