23-year-old man falls to his death from family home’s balcony
Police in Kabete, Nairobi County are investigating an incident in which a 23-year-old man died after falling from balcony of his family’s second floor home.
The victim, who has been identified as Collins Cheruiyot, is reported to have died on the spot during the incident that happened on Tuesday in Chalbi Drive estate.
According to the police, the other family members were in the house when the incident took place.
“It was reported by Anthony Ngige, chairman Chalbi Drive Estate through his mobile number that there was a person who had fallen down from a balcony. Police rushed to the scene and found the body of Mr Cheruiyot aged 23 lying on the floor in front of the mansion,” the police said in a report.
The report further indicated that the debris of the balcony stone blocks which fell down alongside the deceased were found next to the body.

The police said the father of the deceased, Simon Cheruiyot, was in the house alongside the house help they just heard a very loud bang.
“He rushed outside only to find his son lying unconscious on the ground floor in front of the house. They made several efforts to save his life in vain,” the police report further said.
The father then contacted Red Cross Kenya who came and the doctors confirmed that the victim was already died.

Police say that the body had multiple injuries on the head and several fractures on his legs.
The scene was then visited by the officers attached to Muthangari Police Station and was documented by Crime Investigating officers.
The body of the deceased was then taken to Lee Funeral Home awaiting a postmortem as investigations into the matter still go on.
Cases of people falling to their deaths from buildings have been on the increase in the recent past.
On Monday, a 23-year-old woman died after she fell off the eighth floor of a building in Gacharage village, Kiambu County.
Five people who were with the deceased at the time of the tragic incident have been arrested and are helping the police with investigations.
