After helping Kenya Sevens qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Collins Injera will retreat to their Soy farm in Kakamega County to have a quiet Christmas time with his family.

Speaking to Nairobi News, the Kenya Sevens skipper said that festive period is time for him to spend with family: “I normal take the kids to be with their grandparents as I join my family in celebrating Christmas. This year will also be the same,” he said.

Injera has had a mixed season both with club and country. His club side Mwamba RFC, they were edged out of Kenya Cup play off berths by debutantes Kabras Sugar RFC but they recovered well in the shorter version as Kulabu won two leg titles of the National Sevens Series to finish second behind Nakuru RFC.

WORLD SEVENS SERIES

On the national team front, Injera and his teammates had a season to forget narrowly avoiding relegation from World Rugby Sevens Series by a whisker in May. They have, however, come back a rejuvenated side under new coach Benjamin Ayimba winning Africa’s single ticket to Rio 2016 Olympic Games and finishing fourth in Cape Town 7s.

Unlike many Kenyan celebrities, Injera does not fancy travelling for fancy holidays destinations during this period. “I’m not the type to travel to Coastal destinations or other fancy places for holidays. I prefer celebrating with my family,” he added.

Injera will link up with his elder brother Humphrey Kayange and his younger sibling Mike Agevi (they all play for Mwamba RFC) at their father’s farm in Soy for the festive period.
