Jaro Soja arrested for assaulting Gor official

Gor Mahia fan Jared Abong’o aka Jaro Soja has been arrested for allegedly assaulting club Secretary General David Kiilo.

The charges are related to a incident that occurred during the Caf Africa Champions League match between Gor Mahia and CNaPs of Madagascar at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi in early February.

Moments after the hosts had lost the tie, a number of disgruntled fans reportedly held hostage and assaulted a section of senior club officials including chairman Ambrose Rachier and Kiilo.

“I can confirm he (Jaro Soja) has been arrested. He is one of the fans who attacked me after we lost the continental game. I identified him a hundred percent because he hit me with a chair and I fell down,” Kiilo told Nairobi News.

“I am relieved he is behind bars. At some point I didn’t have faith in the Police at the Nyayo Police Post and I thought they were dragging this matter. So I personally telephoned the OCPD at Langata who took up the case,” added Kiilo who insisted that he won’t accept an out of court settlement.

Jaro Soja confirmed his arrest with a selfie of himself on Facebook captioned:

“Arested, napelekwa langata david kilo claims nilimpiga na kiti due to Gor mahia poor perfomance Gor mahia vs C’nnaps kutoka Madagascar (sic).” (I have been arrested, heading to Langata police station. David Killo claims I hit him with a chair).

Jaro Soja has in the past pleaded his innocence over these allegations, and even boasted on social media about his freedom when it was reported that the police were on his trail.
