Kidero issues apology after getting stuck in ‘Netanyahu traffic’

Nairobi governor Evans Kidero on Tuesday apologised to city residents for the shambolic manner that City Hall managed traffic flow during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The capital city experienced a monster traffic snarl up throughout Tuesday following the temporary closure of seven major roads.

The roads that were closed included  Chiromo road, Uhuru Highway, Haile Sellasie Avenue, Parliament Road, Wabera Street, Langata road and State House Avenue.

Governor Kidero was himself stuck in the morning traffic and was forced to walk from the city centre to Yaya Centre for an appointment.

Moments after finishing the walk, he issued an apology via his Facebook, acknowledging the poor coordination in dealing with Premier Netanyahu’s visit.

“I would like to apologise to all Nairobi residents who were inconvenienced as a result of major road closures and traffic in the city today due to the Israeli Prime Ministers visit.

“I was also caught up and had to walk from the CBD to Yaya Centre. In future we will ensure better mechanisms is put in place to handle VVIP visits in the city,” Governor Kidero said.

The worst hit road users were those on Thika Road, Mombasa Road, Kenyatta Avenue, Waiyaki Way and its feeder roads.

However, Kenyans on Twitter were quick to roast the governor for pulling a PR stunt from the crisis instead of looking into matters that affect Nairobians.
