Discovering your character is being killed off your beloved TV show or movie series might seem like a career setback, but for some actors, it’s a moment of relief.

In fact, there are instances where actors have actively campaigned for the demise of their on-screen personas, sometimes for months or even years.

Below is a list of famous actors who pushed for their characters to die.

Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder (Stefan and Damon) – The Vampire Diaries
As The Vampire Diaries neared its conclusion, both Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, who portrayed the lead characters Stefan and Damon, lobbied for their characters’ demise. Wesley revealed their desire for the brothers to exit together in a memorable fashion. While Wesley’s wish was granted, Somerhalder’s character survived, albeit with a twist.

Paul Walker (Brian O’Conner – Fast and Furious)
Paul Walker expressed his wish for his character Brian O’Conner to meet his end before the fourth Fast and Furious installment. Despite his desire, the storyline didn’t align with his preference, keeping his character alive for further sequels.

Sophie Turner (Sansa – Game of Thrones)
