7 shot dead during botched gold heist at posh Kitisuru home
Police on Friday morning gunned down seven suspected gangsters and recovered four pistols during a botched robbery at a private residence in Kitisuru, Nairobi County.
Police suspect that the thugs intended to rob the house because they thought it had money and gold.
Confirming the incident, Flying Squad boss Musa Yego said officers drawn from the Special Prevention Crime Unit shot and killed the seven and discovered a Berreta pistol and three homemade guns.
The suspects had already accessed the targeted compound before they were floored.
Police are trying to piece together who had tipped the suspects about the house.
A bullet-riddled car was towed away.
Nairobi has seen an increased crime in recent weeks, the most brazen one being in Karen where a gang of seven attacked and tried to rob the owner of a house and his guests.
One of the thugs was shot dead during the incident.
