8 must have life accessories as you embark on partying over Christmas

It is that time of the year again when everyone is looking to the end-of-year parties at the office, homes, and getaway destinations.

After 11 months of toiling and persevering in routine lifestyles, people are now preparing to embark on proper rest- be it alone or in the company of family and friends.

Over this festive season, many parties will be hosted, several clubs will be hopped to in a matter of hours, and merry-making will seem endless.

It will be a time to cut loose and ‘breathe’ even if it is just for a week or two.

As you make these plans to shelve your ‘other’ life and embark on merry-making, Nairobi News is here to remind you of a number of ‘life accessories’ you must have on you for the next two weeks:

  1. You must always have your phone with you. It is not just handy for killing boredom with unfettered social media scrolling but can come in handy in the event you have emergencies. Make sure to have key numbers on speed dial to have your entertainment lined up, movie and music downloads, and games when your social battery dies when you are in the middle of a crowd.
  2. In this same phone, make sure to have certain apps installed on it. These can include taxi-hailing cabs because you do not want to drink and drive or get exhausted and get drowsy behind the wheel. Install mobile money and food delivery apps as well. Mobile money apps will ensure you use money wisely/send it to the right person, while food delivery apps can save you from hunger after forgetting to eat but having no energy to coo. Which other apps do you recommend?
  3. Next to the phone, you must always have your power bank and a charging cable around. Your phone must always be powered on. This is to say your power bank must always be fully charged! Otherwise, you will find yourself lugging around dead devices and asking everyone else if they have a power bank to spot you for a few minutes.
  4. Have your money budgeted and at hand, be it physical, mobile money, or credit cards. You cannot go around partying and expecting others to foot your bills for you- unless you want to get ditched in Timbuktu at some point in the night. Money will save you from humiliation and will save you when you find yourself in a bind.
  5. If you have your party shoes picked out, consider packing another pair of footwear in the event you feel that your feet will need some room to breathe. These could include flat sandals for both genders if you have worn closed shoes or high heels.
  6. Ladies, remember to carry your sanitary products. You don’t want accidents happening when you are on the road, and you find that you do not have an extra change of clothes too.
  7. Antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizers are also important life accessories to have at hand. Wipes can clean your face and hands when you feel ‘dirty’ from too much dust or being in places that make you feel uncomfortable. The sanitizer- of course, after greeting all and sundry, you definitely do not want to transfer the germs to your face or any other part of your body. Health first.
  8. If you are managing illnesses, make sure to have your medical devices at hand, such as inhalers, blood sugar test kits, EpiPen, and insulin pens, among others. They are the difference between you being either healthy or in critical condition.

Enjoy the festivities, but remember to be prepared for anything.
