8 year old boy found dead in well, murder suspect arrested

Police in Kasarani, Nairobi County, are investigating an incident where an eight-year-old boy was found dead in a well.

Locals who spoke to the media said the body of the minor was found inside the well on Sunday morning, 11 June 2022, by neighbours who quickly alerted the police.

“The body was found inside the well by police officers who went ahead and informed the police of what happened,” Mr Abraham Kinyanjui, a local, told the media.

It took police and locals more than three hours to retrieve the minor’s body from the well.

Meanwhile, police in Uhuru Estate, Nairobi County, have arrested a man for beating a bar attendant to death with a beer bottle.

The man, identified as Idi Madegwa, is expected to appear in court this week to face murder charges, police said.

The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Patrice Lumumba, was found in his home shortly after the confrontation.

Mr Lumumba and the suspect disagreed over a Sh300 note, leading to the fight that ended tragically.

Police further said that the reveller got angry and picked up the bottle with which he beat and killed Mr Lumumba before fleeing the scene.

It was the horseman who informed the police of the man’s death before his body was taken to the city mortuary.

This comes at a time when a recent report says the highest number of murders were recorded in 2020 – 2021.
