9 counties including Nairobi will be affected by power blackout
Kenya Power has announced that nine counties will experience power interruptions on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
The electricity provider said that the blackout would result from normal power maintenance and would last for eight hours, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Top on the list was Nairobi County, and the specific areas that will be affected include Pipeline Kwa Chairman, State House A, Pipeline Quarry, Plot 10, parts of Transami and adjacent customers.
Tononoka area was also listed as an area that will be affected by the power interruptions. The specific areas include Parts of Kangundo Road, Shell Petrol Station, Tononoka, Peroz and adjacent customers.

In Machakos County, the area that will be affected includes; Sinai Estate, Top Tank, Graylands 1 and 2, Mavawasco, Sunda Industries and adjacent customers.
Konza area, still within the same county, will also have power interruptions. The specific areas include; Yu Konza Ranch, Luqman, Ulu Pipeline and adjacent customers.
Tala Kangundo area will also be affected, and the specific areas include; Tala Market, Kangundo Level Four Hospital, Kivaani, Mathakutha, Kwa Senga, Kiatine Polytechnic and adjacent customers.
Parts of Kajiado County will also be affected by the blackout. They include Gichagi Ngong, Bishop’s House, Traffic Police College, Olemotent Road, Kibiko, Forgotten Area and adjacent customers.
In the North Rift region, the Mosop area will be affected by the specific areas that will experience the blackout, including; Kabatu, Moiben Garage and adjacent customers.
Nandi County was also listed with areas that will be affected, including; Kapsaos, Keburo, Ndurio, Kesogon, Kapkolei, Kobujoi, Chepketemon, Kamaindi, Kemeloi, Kaptumek, Serem, Kapkeruge and adjacent customers.
In the Western region, parts of Vihiga County will also be affected, with specific areas listed as Luanda Market, Ebwiranyi, Ebukanga, Ebukolo, Esisaba, Emuhaya Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Epali Health Center and Ebulondi.

Other areas include; Emabwi, Asikote, Ebuyangu, Radio Anyole, Radio Samaritan, Ebuyalu, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Luanda, Ekhakamba and adjacent customers.
In Kakamega County, the following areas will be affected: Shikoti Market, Shikangania, Elukho, Shikoti Secondary School, Mwanga ECD, Tumaini Primary School, Ebutenje, Eshiyenga and adjacent customers.
Nyeri County will also be affected by the planned power interruptions. The specific listed areas include Kiamariga and Ngorano.
Other areas include Kaiyaba, Kanyama, Ngandu, Rititi, Ngaini, Kiangima, Gatiko, Hirigo, Chieni, Maganjo, Ruthagati, Ngorano and adjacent customers.
In Tharaka Nithi County, the areas that will be affected include Tharaka G.K Prison, Ciakariga Market, Manatha Market, Karani Market, Boab Hotel, KEWI Water and adjacent customers.
In Kiambu County, the Kahawa Law Courts, Kamwaki, Kiu River, Mugumo, Marion School, Sasini Gulmarg, Gitamayu, Ruiru Mabati Factory and adjacent customers will be affected.
Whenever there is a blackout, most business people usually count losses, especially those whose businesses entirely rely on electricity.
