9-year-old drowns after falling into water tank


A 9-year-old boy on Tuesday evening drowned inside a water tank at their home in Njoro, Nakuru County.

According to the police, the body of Ryan Murimi was found floating inside the large water tank after the parents headed to a nearby market leaving him behind.

What sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are seeking to establish is whether the minor was thrown into the tank or he fell.

However, the minor’s parents told the police that they arrived back from the market and tried calling him but he was not responding.

They then released that the lid of the tank was and on checking they found the body of the boy floating inside. He was rushed to Huruma Health Care Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers were then informed and the processed the scene before the body of the minor was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, a baby fell from the hands of her sick mother at their home along Kirinyaga Road within the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

The mother at the time was seated on the balcony of their fifth floor house when he fell and died on the spot.

The baby’s father said the wife, who is epileptic, was carrying the child at the balcony when she experienced the attack.

According to the police, the child was rushed to hospital but all efforts to save her life did not bear any fruits.

The body was then transferred to a mosque within Pangani for Islamic prayers.
