Actress Marya Okoth on moving on after splitting from YY Comedian
Marya Okoth, the former partner of popular comedian YY, has opened up about her feelings on love, regrets, and the possibility of future relationships.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, Marya addressed her approach to dating in the public eye and reflected on lessons learned from past experiences.
“I will never have a public relationship, but never say never. You can use my words against me, but… never,” she said.
However, she did admit that dating has its complications, even for her.
“But even if I had a boyfriend, ei, inakuwa ngumu. Sometimes it is really hard… heh, mnafanya hesabu ya minus kwa maisha yangu!” she added.
When asked if she was currently dating anyone, Marya quickly cleared the air.
“If I had a boyfriend, you would see signs. So if you know the signs of a girl with a boyfriend, you’d be able to tell if I have one or not,” she teased.
Then, with a laugh, she clarified: “But weh, sina mtu (I don’t have a boyfriend). I could say that and people would start saying, ‘She’s gained weight, she’s happy, she has a boyfriend! No, people, I don’t have a boyfriend. Let me be clear, I don’t have a boyfriend. Thank you!”
Reflecting on her life so far, Marya was equally insightful.
Asked if she had any regrets, she replied:
“I don’t dwell on regrets. I have had experiences that have not turned out the way I wanted them to, but to me, they are all lessons.
Encouraging her fans to avoid the trap of living with regret, Marya stressed the importance of self-acceptance.
“Even smart people make mistakes. If you live with regret, you will keep beating yourself up, putting yourself down, and feeling like you are not good enough. But what I have learned is to appreciate the lesson in each experience and promise myself not to repeat it”.
In her final thoughts, Marya advised her fans to be gentle with themselves and to embrace life’s lessons.
“I don’t live with regrets, and I recommend that you don’t either. Don’t kick yourself and say ‘I failed’. Just learn, grow, and move on”.
