AFC Leopards fans turn to prayer amid poor performances – VIDEO


AFC Leopards supported have publicly sought divine intervention in a bid to exorcise the team against any evil spirits.

In a video seen by Nairobi News, a section of the club fan base were spotted in prayer after the team’s 4-1 loss to Bidco in a league match.

“Dear God, if it’s the coach that is not performing please let us know,” the fan leading the prayer is heard saying.

He adds: “And if God, there’s some evil spirit blocking this wonderful team from success, please, we pray that you unblock all those.”

Some of the fans, donning AFC Leopards replica jerseys, are seen kneeling and wailing while in prayer.

Despite bring one of the most popular clubs in the country, Leopards fans have been starved of success in recent times.

The club last won a league title in 1998 and has recently fallen behind Gor Mahia and Tusker in the list of the most successful football teams in the country.

Critics have blamed the club’s management for the lack of success on the pitch and particularly point to the lack of quality in signings of new players, a lack of professionalism leading to contractual disputes between players, technical bench, and staff.

Additionally, they lament the failure to lure corporate sponsors and instead relying on politicians for handouts to remain afloat as part of the problem.

Currently managed by Belgian Patrick Aussems, Leopards are ranked 10th on the 18-team league standings, with two wins out of a possible seven.
