Afrobeats star Burna Boy: Why getting children is currently not a priority

Nigerian award-winning star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, alias Burna Boy has opened up about his decision not to have children yet.

The Afrobeats star says his current life (travelling from one country to another for concerts) cannot allow him to have kids and give them his best.

“I don’t want to have kids now because I just don’t want to have kids yet. Like, have you seen my operation, bro? Have you seen how my mum and dad love me the way they love me? I know I can’t give that to anyone right now with the life I live,” the singer says.

He adds that he will consider starting a family when he’s settled and able to be there full-time for his kids.

“When I can be there every day and all the time then I can get kids. That’s just me. That’s a personal thing, because I feel my kids deserve better than I got, and I got both my mum and dad,” he explains.

He also dismissed claims he can’t sire children saying had that been true, there are other methods of getting children.

“When I see the bants and the things people say [about me not being able to have kids], I said this is unimportant. Let’s assume that it is true that I couldn’t even have kids, you know that there’s something called In vitro fertilisation (IVF)? But that is not even true,” he said.

This is not the first time he has talked about his plans about having a family.

In a previous interview, he revealed he does not have children yet because he wanted to be stable first.

“I just want to be as good a parent to my children as my parents were and still are to my sisters and me. Until I’m confident that I can be stable and settle with the mother of my kids, I can’t have kids.”

The artiste broke up with British rapper Stephanie Victoria Allen alias Stefflon Don in 2021.

The pair had started seeing each other in 2019.

After their relationship went south, rapper Stefflon Don alleged that money and fame changed Burna Boy despite being loyal to him.

Their relationship was also rocked with several infidelity claims after a woman identified as Jo Pearl took to social media saying she had an affair with the Grammy award winner.

She described Burna Boy as a mummy’s boy.
