Airtel to complete Nairobi network upgrade in May

The ongoing Airtel Kenya network upgrade in Nairobi is set to be completed in May 2015, this according a statement released on Saturday by the mobile phone service company.

The company’s CEO Adil El Youssefi expressed confidence in the process and desired outcome.

“Our focus is to deliver superior quality of service to our customers. The implementation of this transformation program will enable us to further enrich our customers’ internet and voice experience across the country,” Youssefi said.

“We do apologize for any inconveniences that may be caused to our customers and reassure them that our technical teams will be working throughout to minimize the interruptions during this upgrade period.”

Airtel had earlier announced a Ksh 2.5 billion investment to upgrade its network in Kenya in order to meet the demands for increased data and internet services.

STRONGER SIGNALS

This upgrade will see Airtel customers in this region enjoy stronger signals and faster data speeds better internet experience on the Airtel Network.

The company explained that its customers using the 3.75G network in some areas in Nairobi might experience service interruptions during this period.

The statement further explained that service interruptions might affect its customers through call drops to interruption while using the internet, to slow internet browsing or not being able to be reached at times during the downtimes.

The company advised its customers within Nairobi to set the network mode on their phone settings  on “Auto connect” to minimize service interruptions.

A similar upgrade was successfully implemented in Kitale and Mombasa where Airtel customers in these regions are currently enjoying better network quality and internet experience.
