Akothee to build academy, touched by plight of trekking kids
Renowned Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, better known as Akothee, has been inspired to take on a new philanthropic endeavor: building primary schools for underprivileged children in rural areas.
This inspiration stems from two young twins who Akothee recently met on her travels.
According to her, these two children, under the age of five, walk at least two kilometers to and from school each day, a difficult journey that is made even harder during rainy and dry seasons.

Narrating on her Instagram post, the songstress said, “In Europe children are not even allowed to cross roads without a teacher, what worries me most is the distance they have to cover for nursery school, my question is, is it worth it?”
In response to this situation, Akothee revealed that she intends to use her foundation, the Akothee Foundation, to build schools that will provide education, food, and other essentials to less fortunate children.
She also hinted that the schools will be named after her foundation, the Akothee Foundation Academy.

The singer is no stranger to helping those in need, as her foundation has already been running feeding programs in Turkana and distributing sanitary towels to young girls in an effort to empower and promote hygiene and self-confidence among the youth.
The school building project is just one of Akothee’s many endeavors to improve the lives of those in need.
Through her foundation, she has already seen many students through school and up to universities, and she is committed to continuing this work and making a positive impact on the lives of young people in Kenya and beyond.
