Alarm as five robbery with violence suspects vanish from court cells
Police are looking for five robbery with violence detainees who escaped from Thika Magistrates courts cells around 1pm on Tuesday.
Thika East Deputy County Commissioner Tom Anjere said police have launched a massive manhunt for five who allegedly escaped under mysterious circumstances.
“Its true, that the five robbery with violence detainees are at large, we are investigating the circumstances under which they escaped the cells,” said Anjere.
He asked members of the public to report to the police if they find someone asking to be given shelter or seeking to make contacts with their family.
“These are dangerous criminals. We appeal to the members of the public to assist us with any leads that could help us arrest them,” he said.
Anjere said he is confident that with the help of Nyumba Kumi, they shall arrest the five who were set to take plea later in the afternoon.
