Governor Mutua: State House is my next stop from Machakos

By HILARY KIMUYU February 9th, 2018 2 min read

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has made fresh announcements for his presidential bid in 2022 following a court ruling that upheld his victory during the August 8, 2017 election.

While celebrating the court ruling, Dr Mutua told his cheering supporters in Machakos that his next stop now is the State House in 2022, adding that he is ready and able to bring the Presidency to Ukambani.

“I am happy, today is a declaration that the journey to State House is on and in 2022 I will vie and by God’s Grace I will win to become the 5th President of Kenya,” said Mutua.

He called for fresh leadership that is visionary, creative, dynamic and not based on ethnicity, saying that he is ready to serve Kenyans.

At the same time, Dr Mutua extended an olive branch to Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti, who challenged his win, saying he is ready to work with her for the better of the county.

WORK TOGETHER

“Wavinya, I welcome you to come we work together. Yaliyopita sindwele, tungange yajayo. Whether you supported me or others, I am your Governor and will serve you and work with you,” he said.

In May 2017, elders anointed the Machakos Governor to run for President in 2022 by giving him a quiver, bow and arrows and crowned him as the Kamba community spokesman.

“I accept with humility your proposal that I run for the Presidency in 2022,” said Mutua then while addressing leaders from Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Kwale and Taita -Taveta at the People’s Park in Machakos.

Again in July while launching his manifesto at Machakos University, Mutua said he has what it takes to seek the country’s top job, adding he has consulted widely with elders, opinion shapers, and leaders from all walks of life.

“I have traversed the country and people tell me they want rapid development. That is why I have accepted their call,” he said at the time.
