Ali Kiba outshines Diamond at Kilimanjaro awards

Tanzanian Singer Ali Kiba on Saturday outclassed East Africa’s biggest artist Diamond Platinumz by bagging six awards at the Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards 2015.

The two bongo artists were up against each other in all six categories that Kiba won.

The ‘Mwana‘ hit maker bagged awards for Best Male Entertainer of the Year, Best Male Artist-Bongo Fleva, Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Video of the Year and Best Song-Afro Pop.

Controversially, the event’s organisers later revealed that the Best male entertainer of the year award was not meant for Ali Kiba.

In a statement posted on Facebook,  the organisers said, “Kwa Maoni Ya Watu Na Mijadala Bado Ni Kuhusiana Na Tuzo Hiyo…Dah Inakuwa Ni Vigumu Kufanya Au Kubadili Maamuzi Kwani Hata Meneja Wa TBL Amesema Ilikuwa Na Makosa…Kwenda Imeshaenda Sasa Tuujenge Mziki Wetu…”

Diamond went home with only one award in the Best Collabo category for his song ‘Kipi Sijasikia’ sang with Professa J.

Both Diamond Platinumz and Ali Kiba did not attend the event.

Diamond had been nominated in eight categories for his hits ‘Mdogo Mdogo’ and ‘Ntampata Wapi’.

Ali Kiba on the other side had one song ‘Mwana‘ that was nominated  in seven categories, six of which he won.

Kenya’s music group Sauti Sol bagged the Best song in East Africa Award with their Sura Yako hit beating Jaguar’s Kioo, Jose Chameleon’s Wale Wale and Victoria Kimani’s Prokoto and Show.
