Nairobi County Reps mint Sh258m in sitting allowances
Ward representatives in Nairobi have gobbled up a whopping Sh258 million in sitting allowances in just six months.
Figures released by the Controller of Budget Agnes Odhiambo show the county government spent Sh98 million more than the Sh160 million set aside for sitting allowances for the whole year.
It means each of the 132 Members of the County Assembly pocketed an average Sh1.9 million for attending assembly and committee sessions over the period.
The Assembly has 85 elected and 47 nominated ward representatives.
