I’m proud of you and well done, Kidero congratulates Sonko

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Thursday evening took to social media to congratulate Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko ahead of his graduation on Saturday from Kenya Methodist University.

This is despite the differences the two leaders harbour for each other.

Writing on Facebook on Thursday, Governor Kidero said: “Congratulations are in order Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko as you prepare to graduate tomorrow! You have walked a long way to reach this goal. You are truly an inspiration and demonstration to all that hard work and dedication does pay. We are very proud of you and well done!”

His message accompanied a picture of Senator Sonko captured in his flamboyant golden rings and a smoke pipe as he wrote on a desk in what looks like a classroom.

THANKS GOVERNOR

A few minutes later, Mike Sonko shared the picture adding: “Thanks Governor Evans Kidero.”

An hour later, Senator Sonko put up another update stating: “The graduation will be held on July 18, 2015 Saturday and not tomorrow Friday, the 17/7/2015 as reported by my Governor on his FB page.”

He also spoke to the young people still in school: “You are the future leaders of this country. You are the future Sonkos and Sonkoreses. You are the future Governors, Senators, Mps, Doctors, Pilots, Engineers etc. so please work hard for your better tomorrow, your parents have high hopes in you.”

Before concluding: “Lastly to you my Governor again Dr Evans Kidero thanks for the advance wishes. I am looking forward to work with you for the betterment of Nairobians and a better Nairobi provided we get rid of the main factor of corruption which is hindering development in our great county of Nairobi city.”

Senator Sonko is expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in marketing from the Kenya Methodist University.

The Senator has in the past shared through his Facebook page photos while in class.

DRUG TRAFFICKING

This comes as the two leaders have often been captured in public trading words where their differences have ranged from the governor accusing the senator of involvement in drugs and the senator denying the same.

The senator has been quoted in sections of the media stating he went to school to enhance his skills and not for the sole purpose of contesting for the Nairobi governor’s seat.

He said: “I wanted to have skills in leadership. I will also be pursuing a degree in political science in the near future.”

Even then, the law provides that a person seeking to be a governor must have a degree at least.
