Panic as American diplomat draws gun in public – VIDEO

An American diplomat was on Sunday morning questioned after he drew his gun and threatened a civilian following a minor road accident.

While confirming the incident, which happened along University Way, Central Police Station OCPD Robinson Thuku said that the diplomat was questioned over the incident.

“I received reports of the incident and a man was questioned and there was no shots fired during the confrontation only that he drew his gun and threatened a civilian after a minor road accident,” he told Nairobi News on the phone.

As a diplomat all the police can do is question him and follow up with his respective Embassy because he is protected under diplomatic immunity.

Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity that ensures diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country’s laws, although they can still be expelled.

Mr Thuku said the police will follow up the incident and investigate accordingly.
