Trinidadian-American rapper Nicholas Williams aka Trinidad Jame$, has launched a campaign to raise $ 147,000 (Sh 15 million) for the survivors and families of those who died in the Garissa University terror attack early this year.

The rapper, through a video on Facebook, urged people across the United States to donate what they can for the campaign.

The musician also said that he will stage a free concert in Kenya to raise more money on top of the Sh 15 million to be disbursed to the families of the victims.

“I wanna be able to present a cheque at the end of the show for $ 147,000 to those families and see that smile on everyone’s face in the crowd and to let Africa, not just Kenya, but especially those families know that we care,” Jame$ said.

“I want to let the families know that we care. 147 is not just a number, that’s insane, these were people, daughters, sons, mothers, and parents. I ask the world to care and be aware,” he added.

In 2 April 2015, 147 people lost their lives at Garissa University College when Al Shabaab militants stormed the institution and set off a blood massacre that shocked the world.

Survivors of the incident recount how they were awakened before dawn by the sound of gunfire and fleeing for their lives as masked attackers closed in.
