Airtel gifts Machakos police with free internet

Bharti Airtel has connected Machakos Police station, in Kenya to the internet for free.

The connection will allow the officers at the station connect to relevant online platforms such as Facebook and Twitter allowing them to interact, receive and share information related to security with security agents and members of the public in the County.

With free internet connection, officers from the station will also be enable to access intelligence information and news online which will aid their duties of serving the people of Machakos County.

Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said that the company acknowledges the fact that security is one of the key factors that influence growth of businesses in the community that we live in.

ENHANCED SECURITY

“The company recognizes that communication is very crucial when it comes to security. Access to reliable communication will open up superior channels of communication, giving the police officers an opportunity to take security control to a whole new level,” Mr. El Youssefi said.

In a statement, Machakos Police Communication Officer Francis Simiyu Barasa said;

“We are grateful to Airtel for the free internet connection as it will go a long way in ensuring that security is enhanced through a fast and reliable means of communication. With free Internet connection, our officers will now be proactive in keeping up with security content and updates from various information platforms available online.”
