Kenya has recorded 699 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours from a sample size of 7,175.

The national tally now stands at 25,837, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced.

Of the new figures, 675 are Kenyans while 24 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 427 are male while 272 are female.

The youngest is one-year-old and the oldest is 85.

The CS says that 781 patients have been discharged from various hospitals after recovering from coronavirus.

The total number of discharges is now 11,899.

On a sad note, Mr Kagwe said that five people have died as a result of the disease bringing the total number of Kenyans who have succumbed to Covid-19 to 418.

“This number is a sad one because we are talking about somebodies mother, son, brother it is not just a figure. And it is sad that we have lost those many people,” Mr Mutahi said.

CS Kagwe says that Kenyans do not have to die, and it is the responsibility of every Kenyan to make sure they adhere to the Ministry of Health guidelines on coronavirus.
