Former EMB Records signee David Wonder has revealed details of his troubled relationship with gospel artiste Bahati, his former boss at the record label.
In a candid interview with Nairobi News, the Ndogo Ndogo hitmaker explained that his relationship with Bahati was never based on friendship but strictly professional.

Recalling a difficult period in 2022 when he fell ill, Wonder says Bahati never reached out to check on him, an absence he attributes to the nature of their relationship.
“One thing about me is that I always tell the truth and Bahati was never my friend. Bahati was my boss and to this day I still respect him, not as a friend but as a person who was my boss, a leader at some point in my life. Other than that we don’t owe each other or expect anything from each other given the circumstances” Wonder explains.

Despite their nasty fallout, David Wonder expressed no expectation of help from Bahati during his illness.
He explained that their parting was not amicable, so he did not expect Bahati to reach out to him.
“I didn’t expect him to come through for me in any way. The fact is that we did not part on good terms,” he admits.

However, Wonder acknowledged the support he has received from other industry figures such as Mr Seed, with whom he maintains a close relationship.
“Someone like Mr Seed, he was there. But with Bahati, even before I got sick, he didn’t call, so I didn’t expect any calls or support from him. I was not entitled to any support,” Wonder goes on.

In 2019, Bahati claimed Mr Seed another of his signees at his troubled label, and David Wonder owed him more than Sh6 million.
Bahati further claimed the two artists were accusing him falsely after falling out with them, alleging they were making up stories to trend.
