Chopping off husband’s manhood is against Christianity, cleric
ByAn Anglican cleric has condemned escalating gender violence in parts of Central Kenya saying it poses a grave threat to the family unit.
Rev Patrick Ndorongo pointed out recent cases in Nyeri County where at least two women were reported to have brutally assaulted their spouses in which one died and said the trend is worrying.
“This should be checked as it poses a threat to future generation and the family unit. Women should love their husbands, not harm them,” he said while preaching at ACK Riandegwa church in Kandara, Murang’a County on Sunday.
“There is a real problem within the family. Husband battery is not only unlawful and barbaric, but also against the tenets of Christianity,” the cleric added.
PRIVATE PARTS CHOPPED OFF
Rev Ndorongo who is also the Kenya Anglican Men Association (KAMA) coordinator Mt Kenya Central, expressed concern over rising cases of husband battery and alcoholism in the region.
“Initially the men were being beaten, but now we are getting reports of women chopping off their private parts and even killing them, this must stop,” the clergyman said and asked couples to stick to tenets of Christianity and uphold family values.
He said the escalating cases of domestic violence should be addressed urgently by the government, religious leaders and other stakeholders before it goes out of hand.
The cases of violence against men, he said, may have stemmed from the fact that many women were taking over the roles of men, many of whom resorted excessive drinking.
He said the government should deal firmly with rampant sale of illicit brews which have ruined families and even led to loss of lives.
