The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin is personally overseeing investigations into the death of interior designer Jeff Mwathi, who died under strange circumstances in Roysambu, Kasarani Sub-County in Nairobi County.

Mr Mwathi’s death has been marred with mystery with the family and members of the public asking the DCI to re-investigate the whole matter over likely foul play.

Popular Kikuyu musician Mr Lawrence Njuguna alias DJ Fatxo is the main suspect in the death of the designer since he died inside his house.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Mr Amin alongside sleuths attached to the homicide wing visited the scene where Mr Mwathi died.

“There are many questions that are emerging after we visited and reconstructed the scene. We are moving to another level now,” said Mr Amin.

Nairobi News has established that the officers have made a decision to re-construct the scene of crime.

“They were there to re-construct the scene of crime with the aim of finding out what might have transpired leading to the death,” said a detective attached to the DCI and who is privy to the ongoing investigations.

This comes just days after Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome said the police were planning to move to court to seek orders of exhuming Mr Mwathi’s body.

“Detectives are looking at several dimensions including where they say he passed and dropped to the ground. We are moving to court to seek an order for the exhumation,” Mr Koome said.

He said that anyone who will be found to have committed a crime in relation to Mr Mwathi’s death will face the law.

The DCI had earlier suggested Mr Mwathi might have been killed before his body was thrown through the window to make it look like a suicide.

Mwathi’s mother Ms Hanna Wacuka has already said she had hopes her son will get justice if his body will be exhumed.
