There was drama in Nairobi last night when the Sonko Rescue Team was called in to rescue President Uhuru Kenyatta’s limousine which had broken down along Uhuru Highway.

In a development that will give Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko fresh ammunition in the ongoing stand-off with Governor Evans Kidero, the President’s men were forced to engage the services of the contested rescue team after one of their vehicles broke down.

The President does not personally use the vehicle in question.

UN-ROADWORTHY

The limo was towed under tight security to the presidential garage near State House for servicing.

State House sources, however, claimed the vehicle could be auctioned as it would be certified as un-roadworthy.

The Governor has been a target of criticism after Sonko unveiled a fleet of vehicles and choppers under the Sonko Rescue Team programme.

Last Friday, differences between Dr Kidero and Sonko escalated when the Governor ordered all the vehicles in the Sonko Rescue Team be impounded due to lack of licences.

“As a city, everything should be done within the law,” said Dr Kidero. Sonko is angling to replace Dr Kideroas governor in the 2017 general election.

FREE OF CHARGE

Besides ambulance services, the senator claims to offer breakdowns, fire extinguishers, hearses, free limos for weddings, emergency air lifting services and water distribution, all free of charge.

The senator’s team claims to have facilitated 21 weddings in the country.

He was also hailed for rescuing veteran Vitimbi comedian Mzee Ojwang’ and offering free hearses and send off to the three children who were killed in Korogocho by a dipressed woman.

The three were laid to rest at the Langata Cemetery.

Congratulations, you have been fooled! This was Nairobi News’ April Fool’s prank.
