The entertainment industry is in mourning following the untimely death of comedian Fred Omondi.

Fred, the younger brother of comedian and activist Eric Omondi, passed away after being involved in a tragic accident along Bypass Road in Nairobi.

Sources close to the family confirmed Fred’s passing.

According to a police report seen by Nairobi News, Fred was on a motorcycle that collided head-on with a bus near Caltex petrol station on Kangundo road early Saturday morning.

“The rider suffered serious multiple injuries on both right legs and fractures on both hands. He was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment and the body of the deceased is lying at the said hospital mortuary pending postmortem,” the police report read.

Fred had been scheduled to perform at a show in Meru this weekend.

The heartbreaking news was shared by fellow comedians, who have been expressing their grief and paying tribute to Fred.

Among them was comedian and content creator Terence Creative, who posted a nostalgic and heartfelt message on social media.

“Today at 6 AM, I received the saddest call ever. It hurts so much… Fred, I thank God for the time He gave us together, bro. You’ve been a significant part of my career and growth in the industry. You always treated me as a brother, hosted me when I had nowhere to go, gave me a stage, and paid me. Together, we started club comedy shows, and I will always treasure the moments we shared the stage together,” Terence wrote.

He reminisced about their journey from performing at venues like Tribeka, Taj Mall, and iClub to their appearances on the Churchill Show and hosting their first TV show together, KTN Crazy Comedy.

“Together we suffered, learned, inspired, made people laugh, and created great memories. All this I will treasure and hold dearly. Freddy, you were a noble soul. I have a lot to say about you, but all I can say is that you did well and you shall be remembered and missed. Go well, bro,” he added.

Rapper Sosuun: I can’t find the right words to write here about you Fred, deep down I still wish that this is not true and it will never be my brother… My face is numb and soaked with tears that I can’t control Fred…I have so many questions for God right now but He has the final say….Fred I will miss you dearly, be ahead of all of us we are behind you…Gooossshh I am pained bro.”
