Ethiopian immigrants on a hunger strike at police cells

Six Ethiopian arrested in the ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants have gone on a hunger strike at Makadara police station.

They were arrested for not having proper identification documents.

Makadara OCPD Nehemiah Langat said the six have boycotted eating since Tuesday. They claim the food is not good for them.

“As from Tuesday the inmates refused to eat claiming that the food we offer is not suitable for them,” said Mr Langat.

“If someone refuses to eat it means he or she is not hungry. But we are hoping they will eat, otherwise they will starve to death,” added Mr Langat.

“I do not think this is a way the group is using to be released. In any case the police are following the rule of law and we will always do,” added Mr Langat.
