How does an artist like yourself maintain longevity or relevance having been in the musical realm for a while?
Consistency. The work never stops, even when you think an artist has “gone quiet”. There’s a season for everything, allowing myself to evolve through each season keeps me sane and focused.
Has your sound evolved since your earlier works owing to the collaboration with Max Okello on the fire jam Pogna Matin? What influences shaped this change?
I’m just getting better with age, refining and redefining my style and technique. I love to explore my range, so the best is yet to come!
What’s cooking in your creative cauldron, any singles or an album coming out soon?
I dropped “Love Art Lust” some time last year so we are yet to exhaust that, however there are some hot new singles lined up for the year so expect a lot of crossover hits.
How do you feel about being part of this year’s edition of Blankets and Wines?
It’s a blessing to be back on Blankets and Wine stage, it’s grown so much since I last played in 2019, so I know my people have missed me as much as I’ve missed them. It’s going to be one for the books!
Speaking of Blankets and Wine, what’s your favorite memory from a past live performance?
The AKA one, it was around the same time as this as it was birthday season. The crowd was insane. I also got to have birthday shots with one of my all-time faves, may he rest in peace.
