Former Nigerian international and Arsenal striker, Nwankwo Kanu, is on a working trip to Kenya as the goodwill ambassador of Pay TV channel StarTimes.

He spoke exclusively to Nairobi News about what he’s been up to since hanging up his boots.

1. How’s life post-football?

I’ve been doing a lot but most of my time is spent with my family. I also spent a lot of my time with the foundation – the Kanu Heart Foundation – an organisation that helps predominantly young African children who suffer heart defects.

I also oversee a number of personal businesses in Nigeria. Apart from that, I fly a lot, from one country to another as part of my ambassadorial duties.

2. Which team do you miss playing for most? Arsenal or Nigeria?

Nigeria, because it’s the national team. But when it comes to club football it has to be Arsenal, definitely.

3. Should Arsene Wenger go or stay?

Of course, he should continue. You must have a plan of changing coaches. You don’t just wake up and remove him. He’s done a good job and I think he is still the man. When you remove him, whom do you replace him with?

4. Do you drink alcohol?

Come again? Ooh, drink, my favourite drink? No, I don’t drink at all, no alcohol. I only take soft drinks like juices and water.

5. Your favourite food?

I like carbohydrates which I take a lot. So rice does it most of the times, the Nigerian traditional food and ugali, too.
