Enoch Agwanda came off the bench to help Gor Mahia secure a laboured 2-0 win over Ushuru in a Kenyan Premier League match at the Nairobi City Stadium on Wednesday.

Agwanda was summoned by coach Frank Nuttall with 25 minutes to go coming in for Godfrey Walusimbi and made an immediate impact winning a penalty after being upended in the box by Ushuru custodian Samuel Odhiambo.

He picked himself up to convert the spot kick to wrap up the match for the run away league leaders. Innocent Wafula had given Gor Mahia the lead in the 6th minute.

The victory hauled Gor Mahia’s points tally to 52 from 20 matches.

Fatigue was however evident within K’Ogalo’s rank as they struggled to find their rhythm. Kenyatta’s team deployed long and high balls which Gor struggled to cope with..

Michael Olunga missed a good opportunity in the opening exchanges before turning provider moments later for Gor’s opening goal that was expertly turned in by Wafula.

“We made mistakes which proved costly and that was the difference,”Ushuru coach Ken Kenyatta said after the match.
