Gor Mahia management warns club official on fake merchandise saga
By Cecil OdongoGor Mahia’s management has warned a club official suspected to be selling fake merchandise through his cronies to immediately desist from the act.
While warning unspecified action against the said culprit whom he did not name, club secretary general Sam Ocholla has also advised supporters to purchase original club merchandise from known club outlets.
He said: “It will not be business as usual. We are ready to deal with the official if he doesn’t head to our warning.”
Mr Ocholla spoke amid an outcry over reported fake club merchandise flooding the market, a move that has reportedly left the club incurring losses to the tune of millions of shillings.
With the team four points adrift of league leaders Tusker after ten rounds of matches, K’Ogalo fans have started trooping back to the pitch to cheer on their favourite players, with some pf them donning the captivating and attractive green and white jerseys with the name of their sponsors SportPesa inscribed on them.
The gaming firm has brought financial stability at the Green Army camp as the club targets to reclaim the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title it has lost to Tusker in the past two seasons.
This weekend, Gor will clash with perennial rivals AFC Leopards at Nyayo National Stadium in a Mashemeji Derby duel.
In the run-up to the Mashemeji Derby, both K’Ogalo and Ingwe fans are expected to buy the club jerseys in their numbers.
Ocholla also stressed that a decision has been taken by the management not to live stream the club’s league matches on its social media channels.
“Some fans have been sponsored to attack me but they wouldn’t succeed. We are not moving back to where we had come from when they were using the club social media pages for individual gain,” he warned.
