By DAVID KWALIMWAHundreds of Gor Mahia fans have stormed Dar es Salaam, Tanzania via land and air, ahead of the club’s hyped up friendly against Everton.
K’Ogalo are set to face the English Premier League side in an international friendly at the National Stadium on Thursday evening.
And in readiness for the match, dozens of fans accessed the 60,000-seater refurbished facility and took time to “bless” it.
A section of these fans were ferried to the Tanzanian capital by Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma and Nairobi’s gubernatorial candidate Sentor Mike Sonko, who donated one and three buses respectively.
It is the norm for Gor Mahia fans to follow and cheer the team in nearly all assignment both home and abroad.
Meanwhile, excitement in Dar es Salaam has reached fever pitch hours to kick-off.

A capacity crowd – a majority comprising of the football mad Tanzanians is expected to watch the match, with most confessing of their desire to have a glimpse of English stars such as Wayne Rooney, Ashley Williams, Morgan Schneiderlin and Kevin Miralas.
“I’m very happy and I would like to thank SportPesa for bringing Rooney to Tanzania, a player that I have only watched on TV. I still can’t believe that I’ll see him play on home soil with my own eyes,” Joseph Koko, a boda boda operator in Dar told SportPesa News.

Gor Mahia fans however remain confident of posting an impressive result given that the squad to play Everton comprises such highly rated players as Meddie Kagere, Jacques Tuyisenge, Musa Mohammed, Francis Kahata and Harun Shakava.
“I’m sure (Meddie) Kagere will score a brace and give us a 2-0 win,” Nickson Owiti who is affiliated to the K’Ogalo Kisumu Branch said.
Gor Mahia earned the right to face Everton after winning the eight-team SportPesa Super Cup football tournament staged in Dar es Salaam in June.
