The National Highways Authority (Kenha) has announced the closure of a section of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD bound lanes) from Saturday 10pm to Sunday 5am.

In a statement, the authority said the section that will be closed is between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road to allow for the installation of service ducts.

At the same time, Kenha has also announced the temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (Upper Hill bound) between Rubis/Neno Evangelism Church Detour and Haile Selassie Roundabout.

The section of the road will be closed from Sunday 10pm to Monday 5am for the same purpose of installing service ducts.

As a result, motorists using the two roads that are due for temporary closure have been advised to follow the proposed traffic management and cooperate with police and traffic marshals on the ground.

This is the second time a section of Haile Selassie Avenue is being closed this month by the authority, after another closure last week.

In December 2023, the authority temporarily closed five roundabouts along the Uhuru Highway.

The roundabouts – Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue, and University Way – were closed from December 28, until January 1, 2024.

The closure was to facilitate essential road maintenance works along the said stretches.
