It’s an absolute truth that breakups are one of the worst life experiences one can go through. Often they can be brushed off by society. However, breakups can be almost like death: it’s a loss of love, a loss of companionship, a loss of an entire life and future dream that you built for yourself.

It takes time to mourn all of these losses — and celebrities are not immune to a breakup’s harsh effects.

Which is why it’s so refreshing to see celebs bounce back after serious breakups. It’s like a public declaration of “If I can get over it, so can you.”

I imagine that it takes one hell of a lot to deal with a breakup in the public eye (said by someone who once was a walking zombie for two weeks after my worst breakup), so it makes it all the more empowering when a celeb totally owns their post-breakup image.

Sure, like any human being with the capacity to feel emotions, celebs are undoubtedly hurt after a breakup — no matter who initiated the end of the relationship, both parties are bound to feel pain — but it’s all in the way that they channel that pain and present themselves publicly.

Just-Ivy

Ivy Mugo popularly known as Just-Ivy has become the absolute favorite to many, not just from over 25 but from popularly known from her money Monday segment. In 2021, Just Ivy split up with her baby daddy Leroy Malu. Although Lee came out saying it was his fault they separated, it was not clear why they separated. However, many have admired to no end how gracefully Just-Ivy handled herself in the public eye as her star keeps shining bright.

Alfred Mutua

You know those breakup you go through then your ex tells you will look for them. For former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua he can never relate. In August 2021, Dr Mutua and his partner Lilian Nganga called it quits after 10 years in the public limelight. Lilian shortly got married to rapper Juliani Dr Mutua was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

Janet Mbugua

In 2021, media personality Janet Mbugua filed for divorce from her husband, Eddie Ndichu. According to Janet’s friends, who spoke to blogger Edgar Obare, things between the couple’s marriage collapsed one fateful afternoon when Janet allegedly returned home from work and found her hubby on top of a campus girl in their matrimonial bed. Since then she has been making boss moves on her own.

Willis Raburu

For a long while, TV personality Willis Raburu and his wife Marya Prude had staged a show of couple goals. It was a union that, sadly, ended in premium tears a year and a few months after the couple lost their beloved daughter Adana. The loss of both marriage and a child seemingly broke Marya to bits as she later said that she was no longer sure she would ever be ready to get a child again. Willis is however engaged to Ivy Namu and last year they welcomed their second child. He is also having a successful career.
