Herdsman who stole seven goats acquitted after charges are withdrawn

A herdsman who allegedly stole and sold seven goats in Roysambu, Nairobi County got a reprieve after the theft charges against him were withdrawn.

Samuel Saitoti had been charged with theft of the livestock belong Fidelis Wanjiru Maina all valued at Sh35,000 on January 22, 2023.

The goats were grazing within Soweto area in Roysambu when they were stolen.

Ms Maina went searching for them immediately they went missing but she could not find them.

As she continued the search the next day she was informed that Mr Saitoti had been seen with the goats.

The accused person had been seen mixing the goats with his while heading towards Githurai, by another herder who informed Ms Maina.

Mr Saitoti pleaded guilty to the charges but was acquitted after Ms Maina told Makadara Law Courts Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia that she had been paid and had withdrawn the charges.
