Homeboyz, KCB storm Enterprise Cup final

Homeboyz stunned Strathmore Leos in extra time 15-13 in Ruaraka to storm to their maiden Enterprise Cup final on Saturday.

Homeboyz will now meet three-time former champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), who stopped a battling Impala Saracens 25-15 at the same venue.

After a scoreless first half, Aron Lubisia curled in a drop goal to break the stalemate and give Homeboyz a 3-0 lead but that changed hands when Frank Wanyama scored for Leos  after a 70 metres sprint.

The Leos could smell victory from far when Eugene Nzioka stabbed home a penalty with five minutes to the final whistle but Oscar Ayodi would ground a try on the stroke of full time to force extra time.

RALLIED FROM BEHIND

Homeboyz rolled out all their pistons before Dan Abuonji scored off a rolling maul as Lubisia converted for a 15-8 lead at the changeover.

A late try from Dan Othieno was not enough for the Leos as Homeboyz held on for victory.

The bankers stormed to a first half 20-10 lead but after rallying from behind. Sammy Oliech slotted over a penalty to give Impala the lead but a Darwin Mukidza converted Curtis Lilako’s try before curling over two penalties to give KCB a 13-3 lead.

Mukidza would convert Fabian Olando’s try to stretch the lead to 20-3 before Duncan Ekasi scored for Impala.

Oliech converted to reduce the deficit at 10-20 at the drinks. Elly Mukaisi’s try put KCB beyond reach with George Okoa’s exploits for Impala proving short.
