Kabete police investigate: Man found dead after finalising divorce
By Nyaboga KiagePolice officers in Kabete are investigating the sudden death of a man found lying on the floor of his home in Ruthimitu, Nairobi County.
In a report seen by this reporter, officers at Kabete Police Station in Dagoretti Sub-County, Nairobi, launched investigations after receiving a report of the sudden death of Mr Eric Thairu Ragui, 61.
“It was reported by Mr James Wainaina at about 6:40pm that he found his brother lying unresponsive in his iron sheet house. Police officers rushed to the scene at Ruthimitu, about 5 kilometres south of the station, and found the access to the house locked from inside, so they broke the gate to the compound and the door to the house,” the report reads in part.
It was then that the officers found the lifeless body lying on the floor in a prone position – face down with the head in a neutral position without excessive flexion, extension or rotation – next to his bed.
Police officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who attended the scene said he had no visible injuries.

There were also no signs of a struggle in the house and no suicide note was found at the scene.
“It was established that the deceased’s brother had gone to check on him when he noticed that he had not come out of his house as usual and when he visited the deceased’s residence, he could not gain access as it was locked from the inside,” the report added.
Mr Wainaina had been living alone for the past five years after divorcing his wife and had no known medical conditions.
The scene was documented by officers, and the body was taken to the Kikuyu Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, police in Diani, Kwale County, are also investigating the death of Duncan Ivor, 91, a British national who was found dead in his home.
He was found dead on 8 May 2023, lying motionless by his worker, who reported it to the police.
Police who visited the scene said that the deceased had no history of medical complications.
The body was taken to the Panda Hospital morgue for a scheduled post-mortem.
