Kalonzo Musyoka blasts Supreme Court judgement
By Kevin CheruiyotKalonzo Musyoka has criticized the Supreme Court for dismissing the presidential petition challenging Dr William Ruto’s win in the August 9, 2022 polls.
Musyoka, the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition party principal, made his thoughts known in a statement hours after the ruling.
He stressed his respect for the apex court, but insisted he is not satisfied with the judgement.
He said: “The course for justice and the fight for democracy in our nation remains a continuous journey and process. It is absurd and indeed disturbing that core evidence and pertinent issues raised by our lawyers as to the handling of our elections, have been rubbished and deemed fabricated by the Supreme Court.”
The seasoned also termed the ruling a ‘sad’ day for many Kenyans.
“Kenyans are a resilient people and although divided right in the middle, owing to the tight contest, by God’s grace we shall prevail.”

While delivering the ruling, Chief Justice Martha Koome said affidavits filed in court must only deal with facts, and that swearing to falsehoods is a criminal offence.
“The contents of affidavits of John Githongo, which may contain forgeries are also dismissed for not meeting the evidential threshold…no admissible evidence was presented to prove that Form 34A was altered by a group situated in Karen under the direction of persons named in the affidavit and video clip attached to it. As a matter of fact, these two affidavits amount to double hearsay and are incapable of being proved.”
Kalonzo’s sentiments come after Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga announced he will respect the court’s outcome.
Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua has also said she will respect the court verdict.
