Kayole commuters stranded as matatu operators protest murder of sacco leader
By HILARY KIMUYUHundreds of commuters were on Wednesday forced to walk after Kayole matatus went on strike to protest the murder of an official of the Forward Travellers matatu sacco..
The operators conducted a procession from Kayole to the CBD with the casket carrying the remains of the slain sacco leader on top of one of the vehicles causing a massive traffic snarl up on the busy road.
They blamed the dreaded Gaza gang for the murder, claiming that the outlawed group is notorious for harassing them.
TRIPS CUT SHORT
Some commuters had their trips cut short after the matatus they boarded ended their trips at Donholm instead of CBD despite paying fare.
The deceased was killed after he had an altercation with one of the gang members after he had locked one of the matatus.
During the altercation he was beaten and later succumbed to his injuries.
Most of the stranded commuters opted to use other means of transportation to get to their places of work.
