Renowned Kenyan actor Edi Gathegi continues to make waves in Hollywood as he secures another prominent role in a superhero franchise.

Gathegi, known for his versatile performances, was part of the star-studded cast of James Gunn’s upcoming film “Superman: Legacy,” which recently convened in Atlanta for a table read ahead of production.

James Gunn, the writer-director of “Superman: Legacy,” took to Instagram to share the excitement of assembling the cast for the first time.

Alongside a photo of the full cast, Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the film’s journey.

Among the stellar ensemble, Gathegi portrays the character Mister Terrific, adding his talent and charisma to the superhero lineup.

In an Instagram post, Gathegi announced to fans, “Beyond grateful a master storyteller has invited me to contribute to an iconic property and this artistic conversation. Humbled to join the DC family. Thank you, James Gunn, Peter Safran & Chantal Nong. Up up and away.”

The cast also includes David Corenswet as Superman/Clark, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillon as Guy Gardner, Isabela Mercad as Hawkgirl, and more.

Gunn’s “Superman” cast features a plethora of comic book characters, prompting some fans to express concerns about overcrowding.

However, Gunn has emphasized his commitment to building a cohesive universe, rather than simply cramming in superheroes for spectacle.

“I call that ‘Cameo Porn,’ and it has been one of the worst elements of recent superhero films,” Gunn shared on Threads last year. “If a character is in the film, they have to have a reason to be there story-wise.”

“Superman: Legacy” marks the official start of a new DC Universe across film, TV, and video games, spearheaded by Gunn and producer Peter Safran.

The film is slated for release on July 11, 2025, promising audiences a thrilling cinematic experience.

Gathegi, born on March 10, 1979, in Nairobi’s Umoja estate, spent his initial three years in Kenya before relocating to the United States with his family.

His performances in TV series like “Startup” and “Blacklist” have garnered him significant acclaim for his acting skills. With appearances in more than 35 films and television shows since 2006, he has established a notable presence in the entertainment industry.
