Kidero arrested in ‘kamata kamata’ Friday morning raid
By Nairobi News ReporterFormer Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was on Friday morning arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and will be arraigned in court over graft related charges.
Also arrested are former City Hall chief of staff George Wainaina and former Nairobi Mayor John Ndirangu.
Dr Kidero will face four charges that will include irregular payment of Sh68 million to a law firm, abuse of office, money laundering and conspiracy to commit an offence.
The anti-corruption commission has said the Director of Public Prosecution has given consent for the prosecution of the suspects.
The arrests follow a now familiar script widely referred to as ‘Kamata Kamata’ Friday in which high profile graft suspects are arrested on Fridays and kept in police custody until the following Monday.
