Lupita Nyong’o nominated in BET Awards for ‘Black Panther’ role

Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has been nominated in this year’s BET awards in the Best Actress Award category.

No other East African act has been nominated in the awards.

South African Cassper Nyovest, who has a show lined up in Nairobi next Saturday, is in the list of nominees alongside Nigeria’s Davido and Tiwa Savage in Best International Act Award category.

DJ Khaled and Kendrick Lamar topped this year’s BET Awards nominations, with six and five nods respectively, including video of the year, best collaboration and album of the year.

Other top nominees include Migos with four nods and SZA with four nods.

The 2018 BET Awards will take place on June 24 at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
