MCAs accuse Sakaja’s ally, Osman Abdi, of harassing and threatening staff
By Kevin CheruiyotFormer South C County Assembly Member Osman Khalif Abdi, a close ally of Governor Johnson Sakaja, finds himself under scrutiny as County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok Jateso raises serious allegations of harassment and threats directed at senior staff within the county administration.
Osman Abdi, a former MCA who frequently navigates the corridors of City Hall and rarely misses any of the governor’s events, is facing accusations of intimidating staff while invoking the governor’s name.
In a statement tabled before the County Assembly, MCAs have voiced concerns about Mr. Osman’s role within Governor Sakaja’s administration.
“In the recent past, several staff of the Nairobi City County Government have expressed increased intimidations, harassment, suspension, and even irregular dismissal occasioned by one Osman Khalif Abdi,” the statement reads.

Osman Abdi and other influential figures are allegedly advancing personal agendas involving corrupt and unethical practices while invoking the governor’s name.
These allegations have arisen amid confusion within the Assembly regarding Mr. Osman’s official position or portfolio within the County Executive.
The motion, tabled by Majority Leader Imwatok on behalf of Makongeni residents, aims to curtail Mr. Osman’s ability to issue orders and directives in the name of the County Executive of Nairobi.
Additionally, Imwatok is calling for Mr Osman to cease operating within the precincts of City Hall until his roles within the County Public Service and County Government hierarchy are clarified by the appointing authority.
Furthermore, County Executive staff have been urged to disregard Mr. Osman and any directives issued in the governor’s name. They are encouraged to report any harassment from Mr. Osman moving forward.
The County Secretary and Public Service Board have been instructed to develop and submit to the County Assembly policy measures to protect county staff from harassment and intimidation. This proposal must be submitted within 21 days.
As these allegations unfold, the political landscape in Nairobi remains tense, with many watching closely to see how this controversy involving a close ally of Governor Sakaja will be resolved.
