Murder-suicide in Kesses: Lovers quarrel ends in death
By Stanley KimugePolice in Kesses in Uasin Gishu County has launched an investigation after a middle-aged man and an elderly woman died by murder and suicide in a suspected domestic quarrel.
On Thursday morning, residents of Chorwet village in Kesses woke up to shock and disbelief after a middle-aged man, believed to be a boyfriend to an elderly woman, stabbed her before ending his life.
While confirming the incident, Kesses sub-county police commander Wilfred Mogere told Nairobi News that the security personnel had launched a probe to establish the cause.

He said that the incident occurred at 9.30 in the morning when the man, aged 35, stabbed the 47-year-old woman, a business lady, in the suspected love gone sour.
“The police officers received a call from a member of public where police officers rushed there but found the woman had already died,” added the officer.
Mr. Mogere added, “It seems it was a case of domestic issue between a boyfriend and a girlfriend, not her husband, an investigation has commenced to establish the cause of the incident. However, we have never had any issue in this area.”

Mr. Mogere encouraged the public members to share their problems and seek help from their close family, friends, or counselors to avert such incidences.
“If you have any problem in your family, we telling them that you need to share them to get solution. We sympathize with for the families of the deceased,” he added.
Mental health has become a major concern, with the various stakeholders in the health sector pushing for more interventions to curb the mental health breakdown the society.

Recently, World Health Organization (WHO) launched a campaign to create awareness and promote suicide prevention in Africa, a region with the highest death rate due to suicide.
Mr Mogere said that the bodies of the deceased were taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) pending post-mortem.
According to some neighbors, the two had been cohabiting for the past five months and were shocked by the incident.
“The man was working as mason before co-habiting with the lover. He liked jokes and it is really sad that the incident happened,” said one of the neighbors.
He added, “The man who had been locked out of the place returned and gain entry into the compound to commit the murder before ending his life.”
